Ratings for casual games - new feature !

This is a feature suggestion. Please give me your feedback and help to shape it out (in case you like the idea).

There are many reasons why people may choose to play a casual game rather than a rated one. For instance, in classical games, I feel like I'm much less likely to play against a cheater when it's a casual game.

However, the disadvantage of casual games is that we don't get any grasp on our playing performance. What I suggest then is to calculate a casual rating for all players, but leave it private. That means it won't be shown in the player's public profile. Only the player himself should be able to see his casual ratings.

There are many possible ways to display those casual ratings. One idea is to use separate web links, by appending "/casual" to the current links we use. For instance:

Your rated classical performance: lichess.org /@/<yourname>/perf/classical
Your casual classical performance: lichess.org /@/<yourname>/perf/classical/casual

And if you try to access the casual rating of any other player, you get redirected to the player's rated rating page. How about that?
I believe that the fundamental problem is that you are assigning a rating to casual games, it takes away some of the casual to the more competitive and people might get stressed or anxious, even over their casual rating.

For example, ladder anxiety is when you don't want to queue for rating - since you are at risk of losing the rating that you're scared you won't get back anymore. This is very common in games with a rating ladder, which I believe that the point of casual games is to remove the rating and to make a more casual and pleasant play without fear of losing rating.

You can't simply say that it's just a "casual rating" either, this could apply to literally any rating possible, and it's easier to say than do that you should just literally stop caring about your rating and just play.
@setsusuki I see your point. But in the way I suggested it, the player wouldn't be faced with his casual rating. He would only see it in case he wanted to check, on that separate page. Don't you think that would save him from getting anxious?
NO! I'm not dealing with that stress too! Ratings already stress me enough! Casual ratings will only make things worse.

ok actually now I see your point. we should have them on here.

I mean the feature is Ok, but it's pretty much useless. And lichess will not probably add it because it adds more to the cost to maintain the platform.
Hi @Cyncko-3000 yes, another rating calculation would add a bit of data to the database, while not all players would use this info. But I don't think it has any maintenance impact.

Anyway, I was thinking now that perhaps a performance calculation should be more adequate. Just like we get in the tournaments. The tournament performance is a simple calculation done based on your last X games. However, in the case of casual performance, the equation used to calculate performance could be tweaked to give different weights for each game, giving greater weight for the more recent games. This way lichess wouldn't even have to store anything in the database.
We don't need such a feature. Adding lines of code to a program is like adding weight to a plane. It better be worth it.

Giving greater weight for more recent games will not be useful if you want to see your progress overtime. Nonetheless, lichess will not any feature unless it's a gamechanger because it costs money that lichess doesn't have. Because lichess runs on donations.
