I would like to propose a variant created by a friend of mine and I 15 years ago

no only 1 square even from starting position !
this makes me remember an idea i had a long time ago:
i played the video game "Naval Battle mission commander" that has an incredibly cool variant that gives special attacks to the ships you still have with you, regulated by that:
1 shot to water, 1 point for you
1 shot to enemy ship, 2 points for you, 1 for opponent, move again
once you get 6 points, you can use a special attack, once you get 6 you cannot win any more. special attacks do not refill the point bar.

i tought: what if we could do something like that in chess:

i was not very original so i made pawns so simply be able to capture the piece directly in front of them and turn it into an ally piece

my idea of the bishop was exactly the same as yours

tought for the knight to give him an attack that hits up to the 8 squares he can target, destroying any enemy piece on them (if the knight is on a corner or near the edges, it reduces to the squares he can attack at the moment).

the rook was meant to have a clearing attack hitting the entire rank and column it is, eliminating both enemy and ally pieces, including itself

and the queen would turn itself into 9 pawns in a 3x3 square sorrounding the section the queen was.

the king gets to turn an enemy piece (except the enemy king obv) into an allied piece. the points go up to 8 and are awarded by: move+material value of the piece you captured.

special attacks can only be used on your side of the field, (white on 1st-4th rank, black on 5th-8th rank), mostly to prevent a game from turning endless with the two kings repeteadly switching away the last pieces and to preven the obvious "turn the queen on the seventh rank and get 3 queens for free".
Currently the game is going on with many pieces already gone.
Meow!

1.Rb1+ Rb8 2.Rc1+ Rc8 3.Rd1+ Rd8 4.Qg8+

4 moves with 8 pieces gone.

This should be called the Sniak Opening Exchange variation.
Yes, not the most interesting opening if you ask me !

We will see how it ends !

Anyway, for the next game i'll have white and we will be already playing hard at move 3 or so ;)
#34 I believe you will win the first one due to my inexperience..
Notation of drunken chess:
Moves are denoted in the same way as regular chess, with some exceptions:
1.Queen, rook and bishop moves are still written as in usual chess, even though unusual things are happening.
2.Multiple pawn moves are denoted by letters. Such as ah3 means all pawns between a and h move from 2 to 3.
3.Knights bringing pieces are denoted as such: Ex: Ng2-f3 getting Rh1 to g3 is denoted as Nf3&Rg3.
Humm, intersting Bulanukh, we've never wondered how make a proper notation of our moves...

Thanks a lot !!
^^

How is your game going against sniak?
SJ Mistery, i like the idea of the queen turning into 9 pawns !!
