Sorry if this gets asked a lot. I rarely come to the forums and don't see a search feature.
Do the Stockfish ratings actually correspond with general Lichess ratings or are they some guess made some other way? I ask because I can pretty easily beat level 3 labeled 1500, but I have trouble against 1100 rated humans.
I think the AI is rated incorrectly, that's about it. And 1100 players might as well be rated 1000-1500. Also plays differ alot on average skilled players, so unless you're skilled at abusing mistakes of those people, it can go both ways.
#1 AI ratings used to be variable and calculated based upon results, but that was problematic because sometimes "level 3" would have a higher rating than "level 4". We received so many bug reports on that specific topic that now AI ratings are fixed numbers.
I'm still working on coming up with a better estimate...
Actually, it's really difficult to give an estimation of the strength of a computer, as it has a fixed time an a fixed depth to calculate and play a move.
So a 1500 computer, depending on the time you spend on each move (seconds or minutes) will be more or less difficult to beat?
