There's a few options:
1. Automatically translate every chat message to the user's specified language.
2. Enable/Disable translation checkbox for each individual game
3. Button to translate individual messages
4. Leave it as is, where user can copy, open a new tab, go to google translate, paste (potentially while time is running)
Overall not a big deal, just a convenience thing with a global game like chess. I'm not sure the logistics of lichess server load and what you can and cannot send a million requests to google servers for.
