Vast majority of my games are against higher rated players.

Like the average enemy has my rating + 120.
Its annoying and not a good experience as I have now 58% defeat and only 38% victories.
My rating fluctuates between 800 and 900, but my enemies are nearly always at 900+.

I know that I am at a low percentile of the playerbase and maybe the matchmaker is trying to find me a quick opponent. But he could just let me wait 10 times longer for an opponent of my rating.
hi you could adjust your search
instead of quick paring create a game you can slide the rating you want
But most people play with quick pairing.
I should just be able to make a setting X.

opponent rating <= (1+X) * my rating
opponent rating >= (1-X) * my rating

Because at the moment, X is like 30% and because I am in the lowest 5% of the playerbase, it does use 130% to 100% range instead of 70% to 100% in the vast majority of the games.
The matchmaking algorithm ist just implemented greedy in the way it prioritizes matchmaking time and completely ignores that people like me get a 100 games in a row against higher rated opponents.
Interesting. Top players have the opposite problem.
I'm pretty sure if you create a game with time control 5+3 and rating range 800-900, then an 850 comes along and hits the quick pairing button for 5+3, they will get matched with you.
I tested it, even if I set range 850-850 I get an enemy with higher than that and higher than my elo as enemy. There is no difference.
Well, @sightseeer , it's hard to find opponents weaker than you :(
Of course, they do exist, but they must search for a game at the same time you are searching. So either the system pairs you against stronger ones, or it has to make you wait for a very long time. Obviously, it is programmed to find rather quick an opponent, even if he is not in your wanted range.
well either I win against ragequitters or I lose to higher elo. There is something of an elo hell in this matchmaking. It is quite tiresome.
Its really a good idea to play stronger players though. Throw yourself to the sharks. Review each game afterwards and see what you can take away from it. Your rating is bound to go up. @sightseeer
