As it does with some other sites, would it be possible for the name of the opening that is played to be displayed during the game? This would of invaluable assistance to those like me who find it tough to learn the names of all the many openings in chess.

We all know this, but if it appears while playing it will be another opportunity to remember, and perhaps one that will sink in better. Also, not all games are analyzed.
This is a great idea! Other chess sites like Chess Cube do this, so why not Lichess? Honestly, I find it hilarious to play a game, encounter a new opening, and find out its name is the "rat defense" or "hillbilly attack." xD
